My new inspiration

In honor of my new life as a stay at home mum, I have chosen to take advantage of no longer needing to look professional. I have dyed my hair red...and not just any shade of red. Bright, freakin' red. Rowan has taken to it quite well (which is to say he doesn't cry when he sees me) and Charles says it is the outward expression of my inner crazygirl. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. It makes me feel a little wild and unconventional (which I like) but I don't recognize myself in the mirror.

On the plus side, I became a minor celebrity in the tiny town of Gilman, Indiana. I stopped at a Wendy's to feed Ro and myself and I noticed everyone looking at me and smiling. At first I thought it was because of Rowie, but instead of hearing the normal "Ahh, look at the baby", the word 'hair' was peppered throughout overheard conversation.

Finally a women came over to me and asked if I wouldn't mind coming over to her table after my meal. She said her father had poor eyesight and would love to see it. Thinking she was talking about Rowie and playing it safe by calling him the gender neutral 'it', I respond "Sure, I'll take my baby over so your dad can see him". She gave Rowan a puzzled smile and said "No darlin', your hair. I told him you look just like Wendy." Looking down at my Frostie cup I realized that with my hair pulled back in two tails and wearing a blue shirt I do indeed bear an uncanny resemblance to Wendy.

I finished eating and went over to the woman's table. The older gent squinted at me and and exclaimed "Wendy!" His grandaughter laughed saying, "That is so funny that you look like that and are eating at a Wendy's! Did you do that on purpose?"

The inner snark in me thought, Yes- and you should see what I wear to McDonalds ;)

Welcome all to my mommy blog!

This is the best place to find out what Ro and I are up to in the great state of Mich-i-gan. I'll try to update as often as I can, with a realistic goal of once a week. If you don't hear from me and more than a week has gone by without a post, please call me. I either need to have a reminder to post, or the giant lake monster has eaten me.
